The FarmaPetika Promise
We believe your health data should be a private record, not a digital commodity. Here's exactly how we protect it.
1. Your Data, Your Device (Local-First)
FarmaPetika is built so that your most personal information never has to leave your pocket.
What stays on your phone: Your medicine stock levels, expiry dates, recorded symptoms, and any personal notes or connections you make between your health and your inventory.
Our Access: We cannot see or access this personal data because we do not have a copy of it.
Your Responsibility: Because your data is not stored on our servers, we strongly recommend that you take periodic backups by manually exporting your data through the app's export feature. If you lose or damage your device, your local data cannot be recovered by us.
Why this matters: Your medicine cabinet is deeply personal. We designed FarmaPetika to respect that intimacy by keeping all this information under your complete control.
2. Building the Library (Crowdsourcing)
To make FarmaPetika work for everyone, we maintain a global library of medicine names, active ingredients, and manufacturers.
How entries are added: When you add a medicine that isn't yet in our library — by scanning the barcode, snapping a photo of the label, or typing it in — the app automatically shares three pieces of information: the brand name, active ingredients, and manufacturing company.
Sent automatically, by default: We tell you about this during setup, and using the app means you're contributing to the library as you go — there's no separate pop-up to click through every time you log a medicine. This keeps adding items fast: scan, confirm it looks right, done.
You choose how this works for you. Change this anytime in Settings:
Always review before sending
See exactly what's about to be shared — every single time — before it leaves your device.
Send automatically
Skip the extra step. Confirmed fields are shared right away, without a review prompt.
Never send
Opt out of contributing to the library entirely. You can still use FarmaPetika fully.
When we check in with you anyway: If our OCR can't confidently read a label — a blurry photo, unusual packaging, low contrast — we'll flag it and ask you to double-check before anything is sent, even if your setting is "send automatically." This only happens on the rare occasion a scan looks uncertain; a clear, ordinary scan won't interrupt you.
No Personal Link: This information is shared as a standalone record. It is never linked to your identity, your symptoms, how much of that medicine you own, or any personal health data. You are simply helping the library grow for the next user.
What We Never Collect: The photo you scan, your stock levels, expiry dates, dosage information, and symptom records never leave your device, regardless of which review setting you choose.
Our Commitment: The reference library exists only to help you use FarmaPetika better. It will never be used to profile you or share personal health information.
3. Swiss-Led Operations
FarmaPetika is currently a Swiss-managed project. This means we apply a high standard of privacy-by-design to every feature.
Infrastructure: Our reference library (brand names, ingredients, manufacturers) is currently hosted on secure global cloud infrastructure.
Privacy-by-Design: From the moment we built FarmaPetika, we designed it to collect as little data as possible and to keep your personal information completely private.
4. What You Can Do
Export Your Data: You can manually export your personal medicine inventory at any time through the app's export feature. This is your data—you own it completely.
Control Library Sharing: Choose "always review," "send automatically," or "never send" in Settings at any time — this applies going forward to every medicine you add.
Understanding the Library: The only information we collect from you is the brand name, active ingredients, and manufacturing company of medicines you enter. Nothing more.
